From 1992 to 2002, I worked inside FBI task forces: Foreign Counter Intelligence, Gangs, Fugitives crossing international borders, Asian Organized Crime.
I had Top Secret Clearance. I had access to classified interrogation playbooks. My job was to find the vulnerable ones and squeeze them until they confessed.
It worked 68% of the time. And it only worked if they talked.
Then I switched sides.
I realized most of the people I pressured were innocent. Or minor players. The system I helped build was designed to make them talk.
